Behind the scenes:
Broken Hallelujah
During the process of making our films, we were humbled by the generosity and community spirit of both the people directly involved and of those we met along the way.
Making a feature film is a long and involved process and inevitably you become close to the many people who have been a part of its creation - and that in itself is a wonderful payback.
Behind the Scenes:
West of Eden
New Zealanders have an identity, a uniqueness in the world. They want to see something of themselves on the big screen.
At its core, this story is inspired by real events that took place during 1960s New Zealand. The film exposes the pressure of keeping up appearances and the soul-destroying and destructive consequence of doing so.
The story heightens the sense of hypocrisy in society at that time. The tension between personal desires and societal expectations, and the subsequent potential for social damnation, shape the backbone of the film.
Such circumstances in a 1960s rural New Zealand setting, give West of Eden a unique perspective.
